A Hallmark Christmas Home: The Dining Room & Tablescape

It's officially the holiday season and I've decorated my house to mirror the classic Hallmark Christmas movie scenes we see on TV. This means tons of twinkle lights, poinsettia's galore and anything that would evoke that heart warming glow you get when you really pay attention to the background decor in these movies. The theme almost leans towards that classic "80's upscale-style Christmas" at the McCallister's house in Home Alone: big, bold statement reds, pattern everywhere, and lots and lots of lighted garland. In the next few weeks expect there to be a few installments of Hallmark inspired Christmas areas from my home to you!

I want to kick off my blog series with the dining room tablescape and show you a little diy that you can do at home to spruce up your dining chairs.

The inspiration was the color RED!!! I knew I wanted poinsettias for sure, so I added them to four vases filled with fake snow and tied a plaid ribbon around each one. You can't get anymore Hallmark movie-esque like than that! The poinsettias and snow can be found at the Dollarama.

Goldware is a must!

My daughter Teah helped me get the final look I was going for with this fun centerpiece. Sometimes two heads make a right.

Yes, you guessed it...paper dessert plates! Can you tell? I mean who wants to do dishes after a long meal ;) These are from Dollar Tree and I love them! Call me old fashioned, but they are perfect for the theme!

We added in beautiful crystal champagne flutes and some sparkly flocked pine cones with fairy lights inside a cloche. It's the perfect touch for that Hallmark movie feel.

Brass candlestick holders go with every tablescape and match that goldware!

Napkins and place mats are from Homesense. I always layer everything. Makes it feel a little more fancy.

These awesome curtains from Wayfair brought the exact feel I wanted when I walked in. Bold color, plaid-patterned look and that Christmas movie feel. Maybe I should be a movie set designer!?

Place everything on a beautiful white linen tablecloth and everything will pop!!! I also changed out my rug for the one in the living room to give it a clean fresh palette. Don't be afraid to rug swap!

Now for the diy! I found these cute little wreaths at Homesense. They are meant to be name tags on Christmas presents but I decided to use them to decorate the backs of each of the chairs.

Aren't they cute!? I also got some buffalo check ribbon to match the runner (a scarf from the Dollarama).

Pretty cute eh!?!

I can't wait to show you guys the rest of the house! There's a sneak peak of the kitchen and coffee bar!

Keep an eye out for my other blog posts coming in the series!

I hoped you enjoyed the little Hallmark Home tour! Have a Merry Christmas....until next time-Jenn xoxox
