If you're a big Game of Thrones fan like me, you know that crows and ravens play a big part in the show. If you're not a big fan, then you should be! Be aware that it's not for the faint of heart though. It's 18A and has some intense situations...like when we weren't sure if Jon would die AGAIN....eeeeeek!
But....all that aside, it's a fun show to take inspiration from. There is one scene where a bunch of ravens/crows flood a huge tree in the forest. I mean, there has to be hundreds of them. That's when I thought it would be fun to recreate that scene in a stunning centerpiece for my dining table.
First you have to find a branch. My husband and I went for a walk and found a branch on the ground. Then I spray painted it black (along with a few other DIY's I had been meaning to) with Rustoleum matte black. You'll probably see those other items pop up during the Halloween tour coming later this month.
Once it was dry I added some wisps of faux cobweb and some white fairy lights all around it.
I had one raven from Michael's but he needed a bunch of crow friends. Dollarama had crows this year! SCORE!! So I picked up a bunch. They had two sizes which was nice. Their feet have little wires underneath them making it really easy to attach them all over the branch.
Then I added a few extra faux branch stems to cover the light's battery box.
I adore these black and white striped battery powered candles! The "wick" eerily flickers and adds to the spooky mood. I put them into my Ikea candle holder sets. They are a 100% staple around here.
After the centerpiece was done, I started to work on the place settings. I added a black round placemat, white charger, black plate, checker napkin, Halloween themed salad plate and a grey goblet. DONE...mic drop. I feel like it all came together perfectly.
